Mumbai starts preparation for the surge of cases, re-opens jumbo centres

The jumbo Covid19 centers in Mumbai were asked to start preparing to gradually resume operations from mid-August.

The jumbo Covid19 centers which were currently functioning as make-shift hospitals at three locations in Mumbai- Bandra Kurla Complex, Mulund, and Dahisar were asked to prepare to resume operations in phases from mid-August. These centers will open at least 20 to 25% of capacity.

Suresh Kakani, an additional municipal commissioner, confirmed that these three centers will soon begin operating, each of which will receive hundreds of patients. “Our idea is to maintain the function of the center in case of an increase in cases,” he said, adding that it is better to have a system up functioning so that we get a headstart over the virus. Other centers too are functioning with upgraded with better facilities such as oxygen lines, etc.
