Indian Vaccination drive steadily expanding, 20 million people vaccinated till date

Since the launch on 16th January, 20 million have been vaccinated in the initial phase

The Indian vaccination drive has been started with the dosage of two vaccines-  AstraZeneca with Oxford University’s Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. The drive is taking place slowly within phases, the first phase included healthcare workers, essential services, and so on. The next phase included senior citizens above 50. More phases are yet to unveil. PM Narendra Modi, FM Nirmala Sitaraman, Maharashtra CM Udhhav Thackeray, and many other political leaders have taken the first dose of the covid vaccine.

While the vaccination drive is going on full-fledged, six states Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu are registering new cases with the second wave of the virus. Restrictions and lockdowns have been re-imposed in certain cities and districts in order to curb the spread.
