India-England Test matches will start in February, Jay Shah, BCCI secretary has revealed. The first T20 matches and the day and night test would to held at Ahmedabad’s Moetra Stadium. He made this revelation while inaugurating Gujrat Cricket Association’s indoor academy for young cricketers.
After the prolonged corona virus break, International cricket is finally returning to India and Indian cities are getting chance to host England cricketers with the marquee series. The entire series will be played from 5th February to 28th March next year. Apart from the ones at Ahmedabad, few matches will also be held at Chennai and Pune. BCCI has referred to their rotational policy and said that the matches in the later cities were due long back and now they would be getting a chance to host their pending games. They further states that these three places were picked to create a ‘bio-secure’ environment for both the teams.
The announcement was also made public on social networking site Twitter by Official handles of BCCI, Jay Shah secretary of BCCI and England Cricket. Jay Shah further stated that it would be an exciting series with two powerhouses of world cricket coming together that promises to provide high octane action.
If this series is successfully hosted, it can easily pave a way for the next years IPL to be hosted in India itself.
